Victorian RACV Resorts to host PGA tournaments
An expanded partnership between RACV and PGA of Australia will see Victorian RACV Resorts host key PGA tournaments over the coming years - complementing the existing Australian PGA Championship event held at RACV’s Royal Pines Resort on the Gold Coast.
Explaining that he expanded partnership will see premier golf events in Victoria, RACV Managing Director and Chief Executive Neil Taylor stated “RACV members will now be able to experience premier golf opportunities in their home state as well as enjoy exclusive RACV Golf member benefits."
The Victorian PGA Championship, part of the ISPS HANDA PGA Tour of Australasia, will move to the newly expanded RACV Cape Schanck Resort in October 2018 and new Ladbrokes Pro-Am Series events will be held at the RACV Healesville Country Club and RACV Torquay Resort.
RACV Goldfields Resort will also host a brand new two-day pro-am in the same format as the ISPS HANDA World Super 6 Perth. Healesville and Goldfields will also host two new Ladbrokes Legends Tour events.
Gavin Kirkman, Chief Executive of the PGA of Australia which oversees the ISPS HANDA PGA Tour of Australasia, added “RACV Royal Pines Resort on the Gold Coast has been a fantastic host of the Australian PGA Championship and we look forward to extending our events to RACV’s Victorian Resorts.
“RACV’s new Cape Schanck facilities and golf courses are first class and therefore the natural fit for staging the Victorian PGA Championship as well as our new pro-am events.”
The ISPS HANDA PGA Tour of Australasia is the elite tournament destination for professional golf in Australasia. Encompassing events in Australia, New Zealand and the South Pacific with a total prize pool of over AU$8.5 million, all tournaments on the ISPS HANDA PGA Tour of Australasia carry Official World Golf Ranking points.
The Ladbrokes Pro-Am Series is a national event platform for both professional and amateur golfers. A feeder tour for the ISPS HANDA PGA Tour of Australasia, the pro-am season hosts tournaments all across the country and into New Zealand with close to 200 events run at local golf clubs.
The PGA have also confirmed an agreement with Tourism and Events Queensland (TEQ) and the City of Gold Coast that will see the Australian PGA Championship staged at the RACV Royal Pines for another three years.
This will tee off with the 2018 Australian PGA Championship which will be played from 29th November to 2nd December 2018. The tournament is a flagship event on the ISPS HANDA PGA Tour of Australasia, and is co-sanctioned by the European Tour.
