Venues asked to support Australia’s rural community by hosting a ‘Good Onya Mate’ party
Venues including pubs, clubs and hotels are being encouraged to host a ‘Good Onya Mate’ party on Saturday, 28th November to coincide with Rural Aid’s annual concert supporting bush recovery.
Rural Aid was founded in 2015 to provide a holistic support program to rural Australia, built off the back of the very successful ‘Buy a Bale’ campaign. Today, Rural Aid boasts a number of wonderful initiatives including, fodder (hay) and domestic water deliveries, financial assistance, Community and Farm Rescue and access to counselling.
Rural Aid Chief Executive, John Warlters advised that hundreds of venues supported the 2019 concert, ‘Hay Mate’, and he hopes many more will join in next weekend for ‘Good Onya Mate’.
Warlters notes “this is a great chance for venues to take part in an unforgettable night of fun and fundraising for Aussie farming families.
“We have everything you need to throw a Celebrate Good Onya Mate party: downloadable signage, bingo, trivia, karaoke, even advice on how to dress like a farmer.”
“We want everyone to get really involved. Hats, boots, belt buckles… and don’t forget to tag #CelebrateGoodOnyaMate in all your photos to be featured on our website and social media stories.”
This year the concert includes performances from Jimmy Barnes, Guy Sebastian, Kate Ceberano, Travis Collins, Lee Kernaghan and more.
Three hours of music, storytelling and fundraising will be broadcast on Channel 9 between 7.30 and 10.30pm Saturday 28th November where performers will take the stage for this virtual star-studded concert.
NSW Rugby partnered with Rural Aid earlier in 2020 to assist rural communities ravaged by drought and fire, with a season-long awareness and fundraising campaign.
The campaign – raising funds for Rural Aid’s Disaster Relief Fund – began at the NSW Waratahs trial match against the Highlanders at Leichhardt Oval in January with NSW Rugby having donated $1 for every ticket sold to the game. This was the first of several fundraising efforts incorporated into the NSW Waratahs home fixtures and events for 2020.
