Upgrades for South Australia's Waterworld and Woodville Town Hall

Adelaide's 38 year old Waterworld Aquatics Centre at Ridgehaven, and the heritage listed Woodville Town Hall are set for major refurbishment as a result of funding under the Federal Government's Economic Stimulus Plan.

Federal Minister for Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Local Government, Anthony Albanese, and the Parliamentary Secretary for Disabilities and Childrenâs Services, Bill Shorten, announced $6 million would be allocated for the two projects.

The $3.3 million of funding dedicated for the refurbishment of Woodville Town Hall will provide the community with a modern facility, which is more easily accessible for residents and visitors, in particular with people with a disability, young families and senior citizens. The Hall, built in 1927, currently does not comply with the Disability Discrimination Act or the Building Code of Australia.

The proposed upgrade to the Waterworld Aquatics Centre in Tea Tree Gully will include building improvements set to advance the layout and design of the facility. The $2.7 million in funding with also provide a new twin water slide, a water playground, a new cafe area, and filtration upgrades.

The funding is part of the Federal Government's $800 million Community Infrastructure Program.
