Upgrades commence on Gippsland Regional Indoor Sports Stadium
Major works are commencing at the Gippsland Regional Indoor Sports Stadium, supported by the Victorian Government’s Regional Sports Infrastructure Program.
Upgrades at the stadium will include new and refurbished changerooms, toilets and storage facilities, and new automated blinds and external roller shutters. Works at the stadium are due to be completed in mid-2026.
Local company Rebuild Gippsland will lead the works onsite, sourcing a large percentage of materials locally and supporting local jobs. Additionally, Sale’s Rockys Solar and Electrical will install 400kw of solar panels and 400kWh battery storage to reduce energy usage and operational costs.
Victorian Minister for Community Sport Ros Spence enthused “It’s fantastic to see the major works kick off at this vital community sports venue that will not only provide opportunities for clubs and players but also support jobs and the local economy.
“Grassroots clubs and competitions are the heart of regional communities, and that’s why we’re continuing to invest in facilities like the Gippsland Regional Indoor Sports Stadium that help get more people involved in sport and recreation.”
The Gippsland Regional Indoor Sports Stadium is home to a number of local sports clubs, including Traralgon Amateur Basketball Association, Gippsland United Basketball and Latrobe Valley Badminton Association.
The venue boasts a world-class show court with 3,000 spectator seats and is one of Basketball Victoria’s seven high performance hubs. These upgrades will help to continue attracting elite sporting events including NBL, WNBL and Super Netball games and high-level badminton tournaments.
The Gippsland Regional Indoor Sports Stadium is one of four Regional Sports Infrastructure Program projects in the Latrobe Valley region, including the Morwell Gun Club, Gippsland Sports and Entertainment Park and Ted Summerton Reserve.
There are 16 projects across regional Victoria that are part of the Regional Sports Infrastructure Program, making our communities even better places to live, work, stay and play.
