Upgraded Craigieburn Sports Stadium to benefit local sporting clubs

The upgraded Craigieburn Sports Stadium, located in Melbourne’s north, is set to benefit local community and sporting clubs.

The upgrades provide a real home court advantage for the more than 1,600 people who play in the Craigieburn Eagles Basketball Association, Craigieburn Netball Association and Craigieburn Ladies Badminton Club.

The stadium upgrade includes three new multisport courts for netball, basketball and badminton, increasing the number of courts to eight.

The upgrade also includes new change facilities to cater for higher demand, meeting rooms, a remodelled entry and reception, new café area and 80 extra car parking spaces.

Victorian Minister for Community Sport Ros Spence joined Hume City Council at the official opening of the bigger and better stadium – made possible by a $5 million investment from the Community Sports Infrastructure Stimulus Program.

Minister Spence acknowledged the Hume City Council for its $12.3 million contribution to the project and noted “Craigieburn and surrounds is a rapidly growing, sports loving community and this important upgrade provides the community with world class sport facilities.

“These stadium upgrades mean more people can get involved in community sport and reap the benefits of being active, close to home.”

The Victorian Budget 2024/25 is investing more than $23 million in world class community sports infrastructure and initiatives that boost participation and inclusion in local sport.
