Typhoon Wipha impacts leisure industry across Hong Kong, Vietnam, Southern China, South Korea and the Philippines
Typhoon Wipha, a powerful tropical storm sweeping across East and Southeast Asia, is causing massive disruptions with Hong Kong, Vietnam, Southern China, South Korea and the Philippines.
The severe tropical cyclone, with maximum sustained winds of 140 km/h, has already flooded multiple areas in South Korea and the Philippines with a least 20 people killed.
As it approaches Hong Kong, Vietnam, Southern China more than 2000 flights have been delayed or cancelled as airlines have struggled to maintain operations amid the chaotic conditions while events are being rescheduled and attractions closed.
In Hong Kong, the Hong Kong Book Fair and Hong Kong Sports and Leisure Expo opened earlier than originally today while Hong Kong Disneyland closed as of yesterday as the attraction braced for disruption.
The Hong Kong Disneyland website states that the theme park is "currently affected by inclement weather” and that its Lake Recreation Centre is closed until further notice.
