Two-year agreement sees F45 named as official HYROX training partner for selected destinations

By Karen Sweaney

With its global expansion, HYROX - the fitness race combining running and functional workout stations - has announced its training partnership with F45 Training, a global fitness community specialising in innovative and functional group workouts.

The deal will bring HYROX workouts to members at all participating F45 studios minus those in Australia, New Zealand and Singapore where BFT partnerships with HYROX make it the brand's exclusive training centre in Asia Pacific.

The HYROX fitness competition combines endurance and functional workouts and celebrates the basics of human movement; running, pushing, pulling, jumping and throwing.

The standardised format comprises 1km running segments interspersed with 8 functional workout stations - including SkiErg, Sled Push and Pull, Burpee Broad Jumps, Rowing, Farmers Carry, Sandbag Lunges, and Wall Balls.

Participating F45 studios that operate as HYROX Training Clubs will have exclusive offers for its members and guests, including:

  • Access to the HYROX Signature Workout on a weekly basis to support members who are either conditioning for the next race or simply want a new workout experience

  • Pre-registration opportunities for upcoming HYROX races with early bird specials prior to F45 Training members

  • Invitations to exclusive HYROX x F45 Run Clubs as well as local HYROX-style competitions and more.

Tom Dowd, Chief Executive of F45 notes “Given F45 Training’s leading role in studio-led functional exercise and high-intensity interval training, Hyrox perfectly complements our approach in the realm of fitness races as it combines both elements in a new and fresh way.

“Whether training for an upcoming HYROX race or simply looking for a new challenge, our collaboration is sure to create an experience like no other for our current and future members across all fitness levels. As we work closely together, we see opportunities for continued global expansion supporting communities in achieving their health and fitness goals.”

Hyrox founder and Chief Executive Christian Toetzke advised the brand aims to become the “marathon of fitness,” offering an experience akin to mass-participation running events but for gym enthusiasts.

HYROX has seen a 1,081% growth over the past five years as well as a 233% year-on-year increase in Google searches accompanied by 55.6 million views on TikTok under the #hyrox hashtag. The race is affiliated with over 2,500 gyms worldwide as of February 2024.

The partnership with F45 promises to increase that momentum with Douglas Gremmen, global head of Hyrox365 and managing director of Hyrox North America sharing “with HYROX experiencing exponential growth, our partnership with F45 Training is extremely fitting. We’ve already seen a great uptake within the F45 Training community at HYROX races, so as HYROX spreads across the globe, having F45 Training on board as a partner further enables people of all fitness levels the opportunity to be introduced and train for HYROX in a safe, non-intimidating and informed environment.”

To celebrate the announcement of the partnership, F45 will host an exclusive F45 Members Lounge at the New York Race on the 1st June 2024. Racers can meet and greet F45 Global Athletes and learn more about F45’s functional training workouts.
