TSB takes on naming rights sponsorship for new East Stand at Stadium Taranaki

New Plymouth District Council (NPDC) has announced that banking services group TSB has taken on the naming rights for Stadium Taranaki's newly redeveloped East Stand.

The deal sees the newly reopened grandstand now officially named the TSB Stand.

Advising that partnership between TSB and Stadium Taranaki is about more than naming rights, NPDC Chief Executive, Gareth Green stated "TSB’s support represents more than a naming rights agreement - it’s a statement of shared values and local pride. We’re thrilled to partner with an organisation that understands the importance of investing in people, places, and the future of events in our region.”

Stadium Taranaki is owned by the Taranaki Regional Council (via the Taranaki Stadium Trust) - which worked in collaboration with Ngāti Te-Whiti on the new design of the East Stand - and managed and operated by the NPDC.

A modern, versatile venue with a capacity of 21,000 (scalable to 23,000 for major events), Stadium Taranaki can host everything from international sports and entertainment to conferences and community events.

TSB Chief Executive Kerry Boielle says the redeveloped stadium offers huge benefits for the whole community, adding “TSB is excited to get behind Stadium Taranaki because of what this world-class premises will deliver for our community.

“It’ll generate more opportunities to host local, regional, national and international sports and entertainment events, and that creates a better place to live and work, all while supporting our local economy and showcasing Taranaki on the global stage.

“TSB loves to champion great things to help our community thrive, so this is just another commitment to support our local rohe."

Stadium Taranaki's East Stand
The East Stand's design draws inspiration from the view of Taranaki Maunga reflected in the Pouākai Tarns.

The venue has hosted a range of major events, including Rugby World Cup matches, All Blacks fixtures, FIFA U-20 World Cup games, Nitro Circus, and Freestyle Kings - and is the proud home of the Taranaki Bulls provincial rugby team.

Engagement with the venue is high - in 2023, the Taranaki Bulls claimed the Bunnings NPC championship in front of a passionate home crowd, and across 2023/24, more than 43,000 people attended local and national events at Stadium Taranaki.
