Tropical North Queensland ready to host calendar of sporting events

World Rafting Championships, Ironman-Asia Pacific and the Reef to Reef mountain biking stage race headline an exciting international 2019 sporting events calendar in Tropical North Queensland.

Tourism Tropical North Queensland Chief Executive Pip Close said hosting the UCI Mountain Bike World Championships and Pan Pacific Para Swimming Championships had cemented the region’s reputation as a sports event destination in a spectacular natural setting.

Close stated “the Great Barrier Reef and the Wet Tropics rainforest are a backdrop to these events giving competitors and their supporters easy access to two World Heritage areas.”
