TRENZ Connect digital platform gets strong industry support
Launched at the end of September last year, the new TRENZ Connect digital platform, is getting strong support from both New Zealand tourism operators and international travel buyers.
Offering a new way for New Zealand’s tourism industry to connect with the international travel trade, TRENZ Connect is a digital marketplace where tourism operators can provide product updates and have virtual meetings with travel and tourism buyers from around the globe.
Allowing the international travel trade to access the details of New Zealand tourism businesses 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, more than 230 operators and 100 buyer companies have already registered on the platform.
Chris Roberts, Chief Executive of Tourism Industry Aotearoa (TIA), which manages TRENZ on behalf of the Tourism Industry New Zealand Trust, commented “we have looked at other virtual global trade shows, researched what has worked and what hasn’t, and done a lot of thinking around the best solution to help New Zealand operators connect with buyers now and in future.
“Traditional trade shows like TRENZ still have a place as nothing beats face-to-face interaction. But the pandemic has taught us that digital platforms are also a valuable way for people to connect when they are unable to travel.”
With a first virtual event planned to run on the platform in the coming months, Roberts adds “TRENZ Connect users are finding that the platform is a valuable way for them to connect, to prepare for the time when we can once again welcome international manuhiri.”
TRENZ Connect is designed to be a ‘legacy platform’, keeping New Zealand tourism operators connected with international buyers throughout the year, and supporting future physical TRENZ events.
Developed with funding support from the New Zealand Government’s Regional Events Fund, oerators can sign up for TRENZ Connect at any time and will need to be registered in advance to take part in the virtual events.
