Townsville North Queensland Events Hub aims to boost business

In a bid to boost attendance at events across the Townsville and North Queensland region, a dedicated Events Hub has been established by participants of the Townsville Enterprise Emerging Leaders Program.

The Townsville North Queensland Events Hub, a dedicated physical space, managed by an Events Development Consultant, is the first of its kind in Queensland.

Commenting on the initiative, Queensland Minister for Tourism and Major Events Kate Jones stated “tourism is increasingly important to the Townsville community so it’s great to support this opportunity for industry to develop and grow events in the region.

“Townsville is the ideal location to foster a growing events profile with the aim of the Events Hub to increase event attendance by 10% which in turn drives economic impact and jobs.”

Townsville Enterprise Executive Manager Tourism and Events Bridget Woods said the Hub aims to shape the region’s reputation as a major events destination through the development and support of successful, home-grown, sustainable events.

Woods added “events are one of Townsville North Queensland’s greatest strengths in attracting visitors.

“The hub aims to grow these events, increasing their profile to major event status to not only attract visitors from across the country but to also develop a sense of community pride and create a life style that keeps people in the region.

“Townsville Enterprise has identified that many smaller events in the community have significant development potential. The Events Hub provides the opportunity to enable an existing event to grow and become a major event on the Queensland events calendar and this is one of the key goals.”

Events from across the region of Townsville, Hinchinbrook, Burdekin, Palm Island, Magnetic Island and Charters Towers are encouraged to apply for this free opportunity to help their event grow.
