Tourism Training Australia convenes summit to address critical state of Australia's tourism workforce

Tourism Training Australia, as the leading National Industry Training Association, is convening an urgent summit to address the current state of Australia’s tourism, hospitality, and events workforce.

The TTA Summit will be an in-person event held in Sydney on Tuesday 15th February.

Tourism Training Australia note “there is an urgent collective effort required to address and rebuild our shattered hospitality and tourism workforce.”

Prior to the ongoing COVID and 2019-20 Bushfire crises, Australian tourism had enormous potential for future growth in a highly competitive international market. However, the events of 2020 and 2021 have seen the sector obliterated in the ranks of businesses, owners and the staff that work in the industry.

The tourism, accommodation, hospitality, and events sectors have lost 310,000 staff over this period and are struggling to rebuild the workforce. This is being made even worse by the current staff availability challenge-driven the spread of the Omicron COVID-19 variant.

The tourism industry is now at a critical point and is convening this urgent Summit as an opportunity for the sectors to come together to agree on a way forward.

The Agenda will be released shortly and the event will be in line with the NSW Public Health Orders.
