Tourism team spotlights Sunshine Coast during domestic roadshow blitz
Visit Sunshine Coast partnered with Tourism Noosa and 13 local tourism operators to showcase the Sunshine Coast during a series of targeted events across Australia last week which resulted in more than 250 leading travel agents from across the country now ready to sell the Sunshine Coast to Australia.
The roadshow included stops at Canberra, Adelaide, Sydney and Cairns – regions identified as leading domestic markets for the Sunshine Coast – where local tours, attractions and accommodation providers met with leading travel agencies and tourism industry partners.
Attendees at the events included representatives from companies such as Flight Centre, Helloworld, Goway Travel, Trip.com, Travel Associates, Travel Managers, Tourism Australia and a number of independent travel agencies.
Local operators in attendance on the Visit Sunshine Coast and Tourism Noosa roadshow included Creative Tours and Events, Australia Zoo, Aquaduck, Coast to Hinterland Tours, Mary Valley Rattler, Tasty Tours, Narrows Escape, Misty View Cottages, Novotel Sunshine Coast Resort, Beach Road Holidays Home, Noosa International and Go Ride a Wave.
Visit Sunshine Coast Chief Executive, Matt Stoeckel said as that the roadshow was a great way to let travel agents know what is new in the region as well as to provide agents with the confidence they need to sell the destination.
Stoeckel notes “Ensuring travel agents are up-to-date on all things Sunshine Coast is incredibly important as it better equips them to sell the region to their customers.
“Reading about the Sunshine Coast is one thing, but meeting our operators and hearing about their products firsthand on the roadshow goes a long way to making a lasting impression on travel agents.
“Importantly, the regions we targeted on this famil all have direct aviation access to the Sunshine Coast, making them priority markets for the region.”
Tourism Noosa Chief Executive, Melanie Anderson added “we were delighted to partner with Visit Sunshine Coast and deliver this roadshow for our members. Getting in front of key agents is vital and news from our region will no doubt inspire agents to sell the destination.”
One of the local operators on the roadshow, Australia Zoo Head of Global Sales Erina Kilmore advised “In the current world climate it is more important then ever to re-connect and inspire the industry about the natural beauty we all enjoy in our Sunshine Coast backyard.
“The roadshow provides the opportunity to share stories, update on ‘what’s new’ and provide that personal welcome back that our industry and their clients have been longing for.”
