Tourism Research Australia launches new data dashboard to track industry growth
The Federal Government has launched a new data dashboard that measures the progress of Australia’s tourism industry across a range of economic, environmental, social and institutional indicators.
The new Longitudinal Indicators for the Visitor Economy (LIVE) Framework from Tourism Research Australia (TRA) is an interactive dashboard designed to provide a more comprehensive picture of the sustainable growth of Australia's visitor economy through 21 key indicators.
The LIVE Framework reflects that in recent years there has been increasing recognition, both domestically and internationally, that understanding the overall health of the visitor economy requires the collection and reporting of a wider range of metrics and indicators beyond traditional economic measures.
Launching LIVE yesterday, Federal Tourism Minister, Don Farrell stated “our Government has always understood the value of tourism to our regions and communities across Australia, and the new LIVE Framework … will enable us to quantify this contribution for the first time.
“While we’ve long measured tourism benefits in visitor numbers, spend and employment, the Framework goes beyond purely economic metrics to understand Australia’s visitor economy, giving researchers, industry, experts, and governments the ability to more accurately track and measure the overall health, contribution and sustainable growth of our tourism and travel sector, and make better decisions.”
The LIVE Framework is a part of Australia's national strategy for the visitor economy, THRIVE 2030.
