TICT to Seek New Chief Executive

The Tourism Industry Council of Tasmania (TICT) has begun the search for a new Chief Executive following the resignation of Daniel Hanna from the role.
TICT Chairman Simon Currant said Hanna had today notified the board of his decision to resign to take up a position with the Federal Group, stating âDaniel has had a massive impact on the tourism industry developing policy, lobbying all tiers of Government in the interests of the industry and in the effective administration of an organisation which represents all sectors and the vast majority of operators in this State.
âWe we will miss him in this role, but are confident he will continue to make a strong contribution to the Tasmanian industry in his new role at the Federal Group.?
Currant said the Tasmanian tourism industry was currently going through a difficult period due to a combination of factors including the effects of the Global Financial Crisis, the strength of the Australian dollar, greater competition from other destinations and changing trends in the industry.
âAt this time strong leadership is imperative and we will be moving quickly to appoint a new Chief Executive early in the New Year,? Currant concluded.
