Tickets on sale for world premiere of Baz Luhrmann's Strictly Ballroom stage production
Tickets for the hotly anticipated world premiere of the stage musical of Baz Luhrmann's Strictly Ballroom have gone on sale.
Baz Luhrmann's stage production of his award winning film will open at Sydney's Lyric Theatre in 25th March.
Auditions for the Strictly Ballroom The Musical have been completed and rehearsals are currently underway at the Carriageworks in Sydney. Promotion of the production has also begun with a new television commercial giving a glimpse into the exciting new production and the dazzling costumes created by designer Catherine Martin.
Strictly Ballroom The Musical is the inspiring story of a championship ballroom dancer who defies all the rules to follow his heart. This uplifting and courageous tale originated as a stage play that Baz Luhrmann devised with a group of students at the National Institute of Dramatic Art (NIDA) back in 1984.
Newcomers Thomas Lacey and Phoebe Panaretos will play the roles of 'Scott Hastings' and 'Fran'having been chosen from an audition process that lasted eight months and involved close to 600 auditionees.
