The Fitness Generation and Fenix Fitness Clubs back 24 Hour Treadmill Challenge

The Fitness Generation and Fenix Fitness Clubs are supporting the upcoming 24 Hour Treadmill Challenge as part of the 15th annual Very Special Kids Piggy Bank Appeal.

The Appeal aims to raise $1 million for Very Special Kids in September to help support ithe charity's work with families throughout their experience of caring for children with life threatening illnesses, from diagnosis through to recovery or bereavement.

With Very Special Kids work likely to cost more than $5 million this year, the organisation relies on the generosity of the community to raise more than $3 million of this funding.

Held each September, The Piggy Bank Appeal is the biggest annual fundraiser for Very Special Kids.

Launching the charity's 15th annual Appeal, the 24 Hour Treadmill Challenge is a key part of this fundraising and aims to raise $50,000 as a running start towards the Appeal's $1 million target.

With the backing of The Fitness Generation and Fenix Fitness Clubs, the Challenge will see participants run, jog or walk on treadmills in a purpose built marquee, complete with giant screens, jukebox and DJ sets, on the grounds of Very Special Kids' offices and hospice in the Melbourne suburb of Malvern.

The Fitness Generation are supplying 20 True Fitness CS 500 treadmills that will operate continuously for 24 hours from 12 noon on Friday 31st August through to 12 noon on Saturday 1st September. Treadmills are booked in 30 minute time slots with a minimum fundraising pledge of $35 per 30 minutes.

Committed to filling 48 x 30 minute slots, staff, family, friends and members from The Fitness Generation and Fenix Fitness Clubs will form an active part of the fundraising.
including staff, family, friends and members.

The Fitness Generation and Fenix Fitness Clubs team is now fundraising and is aiming to raise a minimum of $35 for each 30 minute slot.

As The Fitness Generation Marketing Manager Andrew Cocks explains "that's a minimum of $1,680 for our 48 slots, but I'm sure we can do better than that!"

The Fitness Generation will also be supporting Very Special Kids with a contribution of $50 for every True Fitness treadmill sold by retailers during August and September. The retailers will receive a promo pack with Very Special Kids' 'Pink Piggy Bank', merchandise pack and press release.

Additionally The Fitness Generation (TFG) and Fenix Fitness Clubs are ensuring there are lots of activities happening throughout the event. While not on the treadmills, participants and fundraisers might like to challenge a friend to an Expresso bike race, with TFG and Fenix Fitness Clubs supplying the new Expresso Interactive bikes which feature stunning graphics, realistic rides and in-ride games on over 30 virtual courses.
