Thanyapura hosts Bob Dwyer rugby clinic: appoints business development executive

Rugby World Cup winning coach Bob Dwyer is this weekend presenting the first in a series of three rugby coaching clinics to be held on the Thai resort island of Phuket this year.

Phuket Rugby, in conjunction with Strategic Sports, are presenting the clinics, which arebeing run by Bob Dwyer's Rugby Workshops.

The first of the courses is being held from 9th to 11th March the Thanyapura Sports and Leisure Club where potential coaches will get the chance to hone their techniques with the Phuket Lomas youth team.

With continuing education being an important part of his rugby ethos, Dwyer will be back again during the year to offer coaches the chance to further develop their knowledge of the game and upgrade their coaching skills to the next level.

At the end of the course there will be a celebratory lunch where Bob will hand out coaching certificates to all participants.

On 10th March, Dwyer will be the guest speaker at a rugby fund raising dinner to be held at a venue within the Laguna resort complex. The event will raise money for the Asia Centre Foundation scholarship program and the Phuket Lomas Rugby Youth Development Program which Phuket rugby has supported for many years.

An auction of sporting paraphernalia and prizes donated by local business will take place during the evening.

The hosting of the rugby clinic by the Thanyapura Sports and Leisure Club (TSLC) marks another step in the development of Phuket's new world-class campus of wellness, health, sport and education.

As part of TSLC bringing together a team of leading experts and talent across myriad fields, Sirima Rojprasitporn has been appointed Director of Business Development.

Sirima has a long and storied track record of success in the luxury hospitality industry, having worked at hotels including Raffles Grand Hotel D'Angkor, Siem Reap and Raffles Hotel Le Royal, Phnom Penh, Kandooma Resort in the Maldives and at Bangkok institutions like the Millennium Hilton, The Peninsula and The Metropolitan.

Sirima's depth of experience and knowledge of the sector make her a valuable asset to the Thanyapura team, where part of her role will entail building up the brand's key hotel and resort offerings while looking for prestigious sporting and lifestyle companies to bolster the Thanyapura vision of a unique total health approach to wellness and fitness.

The Lausanne, Switzerland and University of New Haven, Connecticut-educated Thai national is a seasoned professional, having managed everything from international leisure, corporate and embassy accounts, raising hotel yields, online booking technology, train the trainer programs, dealing with local and international press and ensuring a key brand presence at international trade and travel shows and fairs.

Sirima explains "I'm looking forward to putting all my experience to work for Thanyapura.

"It is an exciting opportunity and an amazing project, with so many different facets to the overall vision. This is a great challenge, and I believe Thanyapura is quite special, not just in Asia but in the world, in terms of the quality of its facilities and the total health approach."

Thanyapura Group President Robert C. Hauck said he was delighted to welcome Sirima to the team, adding "we have assembled a team of top professionals now and Sirima will be a perfect fit.

"Any vision, especially one as broad and sweeping as Thanyapura's, can only be achieved through its people and we are well advanced now in getting the right people into the right places to put Thanyapura on the map globally."
