Ten Days on the Island 2019 festival program launched

Tasmania’s Ten Days on the Island Festival was officially launched today marking the 10th anniversary since Australia's only multi-arts statewide festival began.

Celebrating Tasmania's island culture, the biennial festival offers a platform on which to profile and promote Tasmania's innovative, creative and resourceful character and unique cultural identity.

The festival provides great benefits to regional communities in Tasmania, with local audiences of all ages given access to arts and cultural content and experiences.

Ten Days on the Island brings international recognition for Tasmania and demonstrates how the arts can positively influence a community's perception of itself and the image it projects to the world.

Many visitors from interstate and overseas stay and make the most of their time travelling around Tasmania, further boosting the economy.

The Ten Days on the Island 2019 program will deliver 89 performances and 74 days of exhibitions across the state.

The State Government has provided more than $5.36 million in funding over four years to support the festival, which helps strengthen Tasmania's arts and cultural sector.

This year’s festival will be delivered over three weekends in March across Tasmania, with events in the North West scheduled for 8th -11th March, events in the North East scheduled for 15th -17th March and events in the South scheduled for 22nd -24th March.
