Technogym equips 20 gyms at London Olympic venues

With the London Olympics just days away, Technogym, the exclusive fitness equipment supplier to the Games, has revealed how it has designed and equiped the main gym at the Olympic Village and 19 specific preparation centres.

For Technogym, internationally recognised as setting the standard in technology for athletic preparation, rehabilitation and wellness, London 2012 will represent the fifth Olympic experience after Sydney 2000, Athens 2004, Turin 2006 and Beijing 2008.

Technogym has supplied more than 750 pieces of equipment and a team of over 100 professional personal trainers to manage the training centres and to support the athletes as well as all the related services including gyms layout, installation and education.

Technogym has also been involved in designing a specific solution for the supply, design and management of each of the 20 gyms.

Within the Athletes Village, Technogym has design a 2,500 metre2 gym including 250 pieces of equipment to provide all athletes with a complete cardio and strength training solution to satisfy the specific training needs of all different Olympic disciplines.

Alongside the main gym at the Athletes Village, Technogym has also created 19 smaller gyms for the 28 Olympic disciplines inside the sport specific venues, based on the different training needs.

Each facility offers:
Equipment: high performance versions of all equipment with all cardio equipment featuring integrated TV and web access on the machine.
Space design: layout and interior decoration (according to each sport disciplines request)
Wellness System/training management software: Each athlete is being provided with a smart key containing their personal training schedule. Wellness System is the Technogym training management software already in use in over 3,000 sport centres worldwide (many athletes are already training with this at home and they will find the same system in London)
Fitness Specialists: 100 professional trainers from the Technogym international training network from 15 different Countries covering over 20 languages including English, Chinese, Spanish, Japanese, Portuguese, Italian, French, Turkish, German, Dutch, Russian, Arabic and Hindi.

For specific sports Technogym are providing:

Here Technogym's specific solution includes:

Pure Strength: a plate loaded strength training line specifically designed for Olympic athletes combining the possibility to train at heavy weight with the safety offered by a guided training station

Endurance sports (marathon, long distance, endurance swimming)
Athletes need cardio equipment with a high level of control and safety due to the long training times on the equipment. It is also important that a coach can access the data from the workout to help with the training plan.

Here Technogym's specific solution includes:

Excite Cardio Line: a complete cardiovascular product line including treadmills, bikes, ellipticals, Vario and Crossover fitted with the latest software
Wellness System: a smart key allows the coach to upload the athlete’s personal training schedule and allows the athlete to start up the equipment on the correct programme and setting. Every day, the coach will be able to download the data from the key to assess training progress.

Swimming
During the Olympic period and right before the competitions, swimmers will mainly train in the pool as the main athletic training in the gym has already been done during the winter months. In pre-competition time it’s important to combine training in the gym with a specific stretching program

Here Technogym's specific solution includes:

Flexability: a line of two pieces that provide effective stretching of the anterior and posterior muscle chains with exclusive features for comfort, safety and usability.
