Tatura Swimming Complex hosts Lap Challenge fundraising event

Greater Shepparton City Council has advised that the Tatura community came together towards the end of February to support the 31st annual 100 Lap Challenge at the Tatura Swimming Complex.

The long-running fundraiser event which saw participants of all ages and abilities take to the water, raised an impressive $5,720 for the Tatura Hospital and Parkvilla Aged Care Facility - continuing its tradition of community support.

The long-running event has raised a total of $95,000 since its inception, funding essential equipment and facility upgrades for local healthcare services including such new beds, Ventolin pumps, a piano, an oxygen concentrator, a bladder scanner, wheelchairs and garden and fencing upgrades.

Community spirit and generosity were on display, with participants of all ages taking part to support a great cause.

Greater Shepparton City Council Director Infrastructure, Gary Randhawa, said the event continues to show the strength and generosity of the local community and added “The 100 Lap Challenge is all about coming together to make a real difference. Year after year, participants show incredible commitment and generosity, and this year was no exception.”

Tatura Local and Event Volunteer, Gary Whyte, said the turnout and enthusiasm were inspiring and shared “the event has a strong connection to Tatura, highlighting two of its important assets, the Hospital and the Parkvilla Aged Care Facility.

“It’s incredible to see so many people take part in this event and continue its legacy. Reaching 31 years is a testament to the dedication of our community and we look forward to continuing the event into the future and raising more funds for these vital facilities.”

Council thanks all organisers, participants, sponsors, and volunteers for their contributions in making the event a continued success.
