Tasmania’s cultural heritage sector receives funding boost

Tasmania’s vibrant cultural heritage sector will receive a funding boost of over $470,000 in nine cultural heritage organisations through Arts Tasmania’s Cultural Heritage Program 2019-20.

This commitment includes new grants of over $93,000 to five organisations undertaking a range of activities that preserve Tasmania’s diverse moveable cultural heritage, whilst engaging and inspiring audiences of all ages.

Parkham Community Inc., based in Tasmania’s north, will receive funds towards purchasing archival materials and engaging a professional to assist with the conservation of a key item from its collection.

This funding is in addition to $378,000 already committed through existing multi-year agreements, including with the Burnie City Council, the Maritime Museum of Tasmania, and West Coast Heritage Ltd, in Zeehan.
