Taronga Zoo offers guest list places for its 100th birthday party

Taronga Zoo is giving 5,000 people the chance to secure a spot on the guest list for its upcoming 100th birthday party.

The Zoo and its centenary presenting partner ANZ have launched a ‘Birthday Ballot’, allowing people to register to win a visit to the Zoo for free on Friday 7th October and join in the Centenary celebrations.

Taronga Zoo Chief Executive, Cameron Kerr explains “our birthday party will be a milestone day to celebrate 100 years of bringing people and wildlife together.

“There will be special experiences with our amazing animals, unique presentations and more to enjoy. It will be an unforgettable day!”

People can enter the ballot for the chance to win a double pass or family pass to Sydney’s ‘wildest’ birthday party, which will mark exactly 100 years since the Zoo officially opened in Mosman on 7th October 1916.

The Zoo will be closed to the general public on its birthday, so tickets for this unique experience will only be available by ballot.

The only names guaranteed to be on guest list will be those of Taronga’s animals, including Munro the Fiordland Penguin, a perennial favourite with Zoo visitors.

The ballot is just one part of an exciting Centenary Program, presented by long-term supporter ANZ, which will celebrate Taronga’s first 100 years and launch a legacy for the future of wildlife conservation.

Managing Director for Retail Distribution, Australia ANZ, Catriona Noble said it was a great honour to be supporting a Sydney icon such as Taronga Zoo, stating “at ANZ, we are thrilled to be supporting Taronga Zoo in its Centenary year. We want to encourage as many people as possible to enter Taronga’s Birthday Ballot for a chance of free entry on the Zoo’s most important day and to join in the celebrations.”
