Tantrum Theatre gets funding boost
Newcastle's Tantrum Youth Arts theatre, has received a much needed funding boost from the NSW Government.
A grant of nearly $23,000 will be put towards the development and production of new work.
Lucy Shepherd, a Performance Director with Paper Cut productions, one of the beneficiaries of the grant which she sees as a fantastic opportunity.
Shepherd told the ABC “it's a huge coup for us.
"We are still in the first couple of years of our really professional practice so to get this recognition and to be given this money, it really allows us to invest in the whole process and create a really professional product at the end."
Shepherd said securing any form of funding is extremely difficult given the current climate, adding “it is highly competitive, you go through a quite an in-depth application process.
"So do many other people and they all get ranked.
"And of course there's not enough funding to go around for everybody, so that's what makes it so highly competitive."
