Taj Mahal named IAAPA's Most Popular Asian Attraction
India's iconic Taj Mahal has topped the Voter's Choice poll for Most Popular Asian Attractions at the Asian Attractions Awards (AAA) ceremony.
The event, held during the International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions (IAAPA) Asian Attractions Expo (AAE) 2010 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, announced the regionâs top attractions.
The winners were:
Grand Winner: Taj Mahal, India
Large Attraction: Resorts World Sentosa, Singapore
Medium Attraction: Sunway Lagoon, Malaysia
Small Attraction: Sentosa 4D Magix, Singapore
Waterpark: Sunway Lagoon, Malaysia
Wildlife Park: Night Safari, Singapore
Theme Park: Universal Studios Japan, Japan.
The poll was promoted throughout May and June on Star TV Network, a subsidiary of Fox International, which has 80 million cable subscribers in Asia. The awards were broken into six categories, and a total of 94,099 votes cast by the public through the AAA website and social media outlets, determined the winners.
Being held this week, the Asian Attractions Expo is the premier event for the multibillion-dollar leisure and attractions industry in Asia. More than 3,000 professionals from amusement and theme parks, waterparks, zoos, aquariums, museums, family entertainment centers, casinos, and resorts are participating in the event along with more than 200 exhibitors from 25 countries.
The event was co-hosted by the Malaysian Association of Amusement Themepark & Family Attractions (MAATFA) and co-located with the Australian Amusement Leisure and Recreation Association (AALARA) annual conference.
