Sydney Theatre Company responds to advice on Coronavirus

The Sydney Theatre Company (STC) has released information regarding the impact of government advice surrounding Coronavirus (COVID-19) on their upcoming performance schedule.

Prime Minister Scott Morrison has advised that non-essential organised gatherings of more than 500 people should be cancelled from Monday16th March.

STC will proceed with scheduled performances of No Pay? No Way! on Friday 13th March and Saturday 14th March at the Sydney Opera House.

STC has advised that “ensuring the safety of our audiences and employees is our greatest priority. We are closely monitoring the situation to stay across the latest updates and to implement appropriate measures based on the advice from local health authorities. The Sydney Opera House has introduced a number of precautionary measures on site, including additional cleaning with hospital grade disinfectant and providing hand sanitiser. They also ask that everyone on site practises good hygiene by covering coughs and sneezes with the elbow, regularly washing hands thoroughly with soap and using hand sanitiser when possible.

“If you are feeling unwell, we encourage you to stay at home and seek medical advice. However, if you begin to show signs of any flu-like symptoms while at the Sydney Opera House, please speak with a Sydney Opera House staff member immediately who can arrange for one of the on-site nurses to provide assistance.

“If you have recently travelled overseas or have come into contact with anyone confirmed to have the virus, we ask that all patrons adhere to the latest isolation advice from the Australian Government Department of Health and NSW Health.”

For patrons requesting a ticket exchange or return for this weekend, based on medical advice that they should be isolated, requests will be approved. STC is asking patrons to cite this reasoning and provide a Doctor's note to support return requests to the STC Box Office.

Ticket holders for cancelled performances are entitled to a refund for the face value of ticket(s). STC also have a variety of ticket return options including a credit voucher valid for three years, or donating the amount as a tax-deductible contribution to support artists and ongoing operations during this challenging time.
