Swimmers make the most of refurbished facilities at Darwin’s Parap Pool
Swimmers have been making the most of the refurbished Parap Pool in Darwin since its reopening on 2nd January.
After a $14 million redevelopment the YMCA-managed facility now offers a 50 metre pool, a 25 metre program pool, a dry and zero depth wet play experience along with new office and entry areas, a kiosk/café, and user amenities.
Having had to share the Casuarina Pool with Casuarina Storm Swimming Club members during the 12 month refurbishment, Darwin Swimming Club Head Coach Tim Few welcomed the Parap Pool’s reopening, stating “the best thing about being back is that we don’t have to share with the other big clubs in the NT.
“I’m quite happy that we get to use this facility, our kids now have what others down south use.”
The 130-member strong club was hoping that returning to Parap pool would encourage new and lapsed members to join.
The YMCA also manages the City of Darwin's Casuarina and Nightcliff Swimming Pools.
