Surf Life Saving Australia opens applications for 2021 National Leadership College
Applications for Surf Life Saving Australia’s (SLSA) annual National Leadership College are now open for the 2021 program, to be held in Sydney from 31st January to 6th February at the Sancta Sophia College in Camperdown, Sydney with a maximum of 30 positions available for the week-long course.
For the 2021 program there will also be four multicultural and indigenous scholarships available for participants with the full cost of the course paid for by SLSA.
The National Leadership College is an annual leadership and development program recognising young leaders in Surf Life Saving aged between 20 and 30 years.
The week-long intensive course provides an exciting opportunity for members within the movement to further develop their leadership skills and continue to positively contribute to the success of Surf Life Saving.
As well as learning new skills and creating opportunities for personal growth, the program will open new networks with other likeminded passionate members across the country, who are also committed to making a difference within the movement.
The National Leadership College is designed to challenge participants intellectually, socially, emotionally and physically. The skills gained are designed to be taken back to clubs and into other areas of the participant’s daily life, with the aim of contributing to SLSA’s mission statement of saving lives, creating great Australians and building better communities.
2020 National Leadership College participant Sonita Leng-Cole from Alexandra Headland SLSC said that the experience was indescribable and advises “I cannot recommend it enough to anyone who is interested in bettering themselves, in bettering their leadership skills, in getting out of their comfort zone.
“It is just such an exciting and incredible week and you leave feeling so fulfilled and so inspired and excited to just continue in Surf Life Saving.”
Applications to state and territory centres are due by 2nd November 2020 with the successful applicants notified by SLSA on 2nd December 2020.
To apply for the National Leadership College download and complete the application form which is available from the SLSA Members Area, have your application endorsed by your club or branch and deliver the completed application to your state centre by 2nd November 2020.
