Strong Ticket Sales for Phillip Island MotoGP

With the 2008 Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix less than a month away, Victorian Tourism and Major Events Minister Tim Holding has highlighted that "ticket sales are again strong and we are expecting a bumper crowd to attend over the three days."

Minister Holding this week explained that additional grandstand seats have been made available to meet the strong demand for tickets, and that corporate sales are up on last year, adding "last year's race set attendance records as spectators turned out in force to welcome home an Australian World Champion for the first time in a decade."

This year marks the 14th running of the worldâs premier class of motorcycle racing at the iconic Phillip Island circuit, with the raceâs hosting in Victoria secure until at least 2011.

Adding that the event will attract thousands of interstate and international visitors and is a key part of Victoria's year round calendar of events, Minister Holding went on to say "the Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix brings big-spending tourists, creates employment and business opportunities and provides regional Victorians with an opportunity to enjoy world-class entertainment in their own backyard."

The 2008 Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix will staged at Phillip Island, Victoria from 3rd to 5th October.
