Stagecenta launches free theatre app
Theatre show guide and ticketing platform StageCenta, has claimed an industry first after rolling out its nationwide free theatre app.
The app, which will feature all shows across the country from community to professional, launched live on both Apple and Google Play stores over the Easter weekend, with actors, creatives, theatre companies and venues able to register their information and shows.
Introducing the app, StageCenta founder Richard Block advised “the development of phone technology, in particular Apps, has made delivering the information that a user needs directly into their hands, easier than ever before.”
The app includes features such as show details and times, a geo-location function, links to ticket purchases and directions to theatres, among others.
StageCenta will initially add shows into the app on behalf of companies, however, venues and promoters will be able to list and edit their own info in the future, offering a free marketing tool.
Block added “all shows deserve to be discovered and seen. We are so excited to deliver a free platform which lists and promotes all shows, from the small and local, to large scale professional touring productions. Supporting companies and artists, as well as making theatre and its benefits accessible to a wider demographic.”
The company will be releasing a range of giveaways and promotions over the coming weeks to mark the launch, as well as attending and promoting many of the shows listed on the app.
In addition, actors and creatives can register their profiles via the app, including photos and biogs, and they can then tag themselves in reviews, photographs and articles.
