St Helens secures award for Tasmania’s Top Tourism Town

St Helens, the largest town on the north-east coast of Tasmania, has secured the award for Tasmania’s Top Tourism Town 2020 for its offerings which include local mountain bike trails, fresh produce and pristine coastal waters for divers to explore impressive kelp forests, underwater caves and colourful sea life.

The Top Tourist Towns competition is an initiative which provides incentives for people to travel further within Tasmania experiencing its stories, history and people, while also supporting local businesses, jobs and economy.

Tourism and Hospitality industry has been one of the hardest hit through the COVID-19 pandemic and these awards recognise that Tasmania’s regional areas and attractions are vital in rebuilding tourism as a pillar of the state’s economy and community.

Tasmanian Premier, Peter Gutwein advised “I would like to also congratulate all eleven of the incredible entries including the townships of Stanley and Sheffield for taking out second and third place respectively.

“Importantly, our new Make Yourself at Home voucher incentive scheme will make it even easier for Tasmanians to support our local businesses and economy by getting out and experiencing their home State.”
