Sri Lanka Aquatic Sports Union annual sea swim event draws more than 700 competitors

Organised by the Sri Lanka Aquatic Sports Union (SLASU), the 85th annual Two Mile Sea Swim event attracted over 700 swimmers on 15th and 16th March - held at the Mount Lavinia Beach and sponsored by Mount Lavinia Hotel.

Under-15 girls and boys events were held on 15th March followed by the Men’s Open on 16th March where Chief Guest Presidential Advisor Sagala Ratnayake graced the presentation ceremony. Guest of Honor was Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera and Special Guest was Sanath Ukwatte – Chairman of Mount Lavinia Hotel Group.

This two-day swimming extravaganza marked Sri Lanka’s oldest sea swim, with more than 700 swimmers from 75 clubs and schools diving in. It’s a highlight on the calendar for open water swimming enthusiasts.

A Mount Lavinia Hotel spokesperson shared “It is with great pride that Mount Lavinia Hotel has been an organizing partner of the Two-Mile Sea Swim by SLASU for the past 85 years since its inception. This event has a remarkable history and we, at the Mount Lavinia Hotel, have a rich legacy of over 200 years.
