Sports Source Asia 2011 to present unrivalled sport product platform

Further details of this year's Sports Source Asia, a trade event for sports equipment, clothes, accessories and a wide range of other sporting goods, have been announced.

Co-organised by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council and MMI Asia Pte Ltd, the 5th incarnation of Sports Source Asia will be held in AsiaWorld-Expo from 27th to 29th October, 2011, aiming to be a one-stop trading platform for sports-related goods. Last year, the fair featured more than 194 exhibitors and was visited by more than 6,700 buyers.

Following the Beijing Olympics and the Asian Games in Guangzhou 2010, interest in sports and demand for sporting goods have soared. In the first six months of 2011, Hong Kong's sporting goods exports rose by 7% over the same period last year, signalling a positive outlook for the sports market.

This year, Sports Source Asia has launched a new 'Outdoor Sport Zone' to cater for the increasing popularity of outdoor sports. With more and more people engaging in outdoor sports, the demand for sports gear and apparel for camping, cycling, hiking, skiing and water sports inevitably goes higher.

In 2011 Sports Source Asia will again include a 'Premium Zone', backed by the participation of Fujian Hongxing Erke Sports Goods Co., Ltd (ERKE) and Qyield (Xiamen) Camping Products Company (Q-yield) from the Chinese mainland, Taiwan's Bonny Sports Corp. (Bonny) as well as Hong Kong's Gregory Trading Limited (Speedo) and Propet International (HK) Ltd (Propet).

The 'Fitness Zone' also returns to cater for the growing fitness market in Asia.
Exhibitors from the Chinese mainland are big supporters of the fair. The Chinese mainland pavilion registered satisfactory results from last year and returns in 2011. Pakistan, for the very first time, is organising a group pavilion featuring ball game, boxing and martial arts equipment. Korea, for the third time, is also hosting a Pavilion by KSPO - Korea Sports Promotion Federation.

Since the show's debut, Sports Source Asia has been a preferred choice for industry players to sell and buy products. There is an increasing number of successful interactions between sellers and buyers from emerging markets.

H. Junaid Iqbal Sandal of Durus Industries (PVT) Ltd from Pakistan, who exhibited at the 2010 fair, explains "we have found our customers through visiting buyers overseas and exhibiting at trade fairs.

"Sport Source Asia is one of them and this is our third time here. We are happy to keep our presence here as we are able to receive enquiries from interested customers, and in the past, about 10% of them, some from South America and some from Europe, eventually placed their orders with us. This show boasts a good reputation and this attracts buyers to visit."

Sports Source Asia is not only about making deals; it is also for traders to gain market intelligence which will benefit their businesses long-term. This year, a series of seminars and sportswear parades will also help participants plan their business by understanding what is happening now and what will happen next in the sporting goods/sportswear industry.
