Sports Fan Summit operator enters liquidation

Following on from the recent postponement of the 2017 Sports Fan Summit, which was to have been held at the MCG earlier this month, event SRG & Conferences Limited has been placed in liquidation.

Australasian Leisure Management understands that the New Zealand-based business was not in a financial position to continue to operate as a result of insufficient delegate registrations for the event and increased competition.

First held as the Sport is Fantastic conference in 2018, over its nine years the event presented a range of highly innovative sessions dealing with cutting edge issues relating to technology, social media and fan engagement.

It also brought a range of world leaders to Australia including representatives from European football giants Real Madrid, Manchester City and Chelsea; NBA franchises the Miami Heat and the Denver Nuggets as well as from the NHL and MLS .

However, competition in recent years from events such as the Mumbrella Sports Marketing Summit and the Ministry of Sports Marketing conference has impacted the Summit and split delegate attendance.

The liquidators are Tony Maginness and Jared Booth, CAANZ Accredited Insolvency Practitioners, from Staples Rodway Charted Accountants, Auckland, New Zealand.

They can be contacted via email at tony.maginness@staplesrodway.com and jared.booth@staplesrodway.com
