Sports Environment Alliance counts down to 2024 SEAChanger Awards

With its 2024 SEASummit being held on 17th April 2024 at Melbourne’s Marvel Stadium, the Sports Environment Alliance (SEA) will be presenting its annual SEAChanger Awards.

The Awards are open to sporting organisations, sports clubs, venues and facilities who have driven change; contributed to best practice environmental stewardship in the areas of water, energy, materials, biodiversity; or engagement and education in the last two years.

The Awards also aim to recognise individuals who over the last two years haves demonstrated outstanding environmental and climate leadership across the sector, driving change, best practice and innovation.

The #SEAChanger Awards are presented three categories:

  1. SEAChanger - SEA Member

  2. SEAChanger - Non-Member

  3. SEAChanger - Individual Leadership

Applications can be about large or small projects, approaches and activities but most importantly will need to show how the work or leadership is innovative, delivering best value, driving change, contributing to best practice and improving outcomes for organisations, the community and/or for the sporting ecosystem.

Key selection criteria include:

Innovation: Is this a first of its kind action? Is what you are doing using cutting edge approaches or technology or out-of-the-box thinking?

High Impact: Did your initiative reduce natural resource use? Did your efforts result in biodiversity conservation and/or restoration? Did you significantly reduce your carbon footprint?

Reach of impact: How far did your efforts benefit? Did your initiative positively impact the greater community?

Media Engagement: Did your work make the news? What channels noticed your efforts? How much coverage did your initiative attract?

Community Engagement: Did you get your organisation and/or the greater community involved in what you are doing? Did you better engage and/or educate your community about the importance of our natural environment?

Commenting on the Awards, SEA Chief Executive, Jan Fitzgerald explains “the SEAChanger Awards are open to all sporting organisations and are a perfect way to reflect on all the amazing achievements of your sports club, venue, facility, organising body or even your individual effort ... small or large, every project counts.”

The SEAChanger Awards will be presented at the annual SEASummit being held on 17th April 2024 at Marvel Stadium in Melbourne.
