Sports Contractors Association names top projects of 2015

The Sports Contractors Association announced the winners of its Tennis Court of the Year competition at its National Conference at the RACV Royal Pines Resort, Gold Coast, on Friday 4th September. 

The awards, presented during the Conference Gala Dinner , went to:

Construction of Tennis Courts – Commercial
Kevin McNamara & Son for Woodend Tennis Club, Victoria (pictured above)

Construction of Tennis Courts – Domestic above $100,000
Boag Construction, South Australia

Construction of Tennis Courts – Domestic up to $100,000
Joint Winners: Blacktac, Tasmania and All Grass Sports Surfaces, NSW

Construction of Sports Courts and Fields
All Grass Sports Surfaces for Warrawee Public School, NSW

Sports Surfacing
Joint Winners: Sports Courts Victoria for Galvin Park, Victoria and Recreational Surfacing for Five Islands TAFE, NSW

Sports Equipment and Ancillaries Installed

Innovation Award
Play Hard Sports Equipment for redesign of hammer and discus cages

Due to the broadening of its membership base from its early days as the Tennis Court Builders Association of Australasia, the Sports Contractors Association Industry Awards competition now includes categories relevant to not only construction but also sports surfacing, sports equipment, and research and development.

The Sports Contractors Association is the peak industry body for tennis court and sports field construction. Current membership of the Association includes:

• Manufacturers of acrylic products and synthetic grass
• Manufacturers and suppliers of sports equipment including basketball towers, netposts, netting, fencing and sand
• Sports court and sports field builders, surfacers and installers
• Sports surface testing consultants
