Sport Integrity Australia updates its safeguarding module for sporting organisations

The Australian Sports Commission has worked with Sport Integrity Australia to update its safeguarding module for national sporting organisations (NSOs) and national sporting organisations for people with disability (NSODs).

The module also helps sports identify areas of strength and opportunities for improvement in their child safe practices and processes and provides them with education, training and ongoing support so they can provide a safe and inclusive environment for everyone involved in sport.

Developed by Sport Integrity Australia (SIA), the Safeguarding in Sport Continuous Improvement Program (SISCIP) follows a similar module designed for community clubs and has been added to the ASC’s Game Plan platform.

Game Plan is a free digital platform helping sporting organisations at all levels understand their current capabilities and areas of improvement, while supporting their ongoing development with a suite of tools and resources.

Senior Game Plan Advisor Steve Marquis notes “Game Plan is a world first system that connects all levels of sport with all levels of government, building a community of support across the sector,” Senior Game Plan Advisor Steve Marquis said.

“We work with key partners from across the sport sector to develop modules and share their resources to benefit all of sport.”

Marquis said the ASC helped SIA digitise the SISCIP self-assessment and support action planning for organisations to build their Safeguarding capabilities and access supporting resources.

Once an NSO/D has signed up to the SISCIP they can complete the self-assessment.

Game Plan is available to all sporting clubs and organisations across Australia. For more information visit ausport.gov.au/gameplan.
