Sport Australia Hall of Fame marks 40th anniversary and welcomes Harvey Norman as Gold Sponsor

The Sport Australia Hall of Fame is celebrating its 40th anniversary in 2025 - marking 40 years of being the guardian of 180 years of Australian sporting history, honouring the athletes who have shaped the nation’s sporting legacy.

This year, Sport Australia Hall of Fame celebrate not only the champions but also the collective effort behind them – the people dedicated to preserving their stories and ensuring their legacy continues to inspire future generations. Teams, sponsors, and supporters all play a vital role in keeping history alive.

Sport Australia Hall of Fame has also welcomed Harvey Norman as its new Gold Sponsor, commencing a three-year partnership in February 2025.

The collaboration underscores Harvey Norman’s commitment to Australian sport and its athletes, further extending their long-standing tradition of fostering sporting excellence.

Harvey Norman will also co-sponsor the prestigious SAHOF Scholarship & Mentoring Program, alongside the Australian Sports Commission incorporating the Australian Institute of Sport. This program is renowned for providing financial support and unrivalled mentoring opportunities for young elite Australian athletes, helping them achieve their full potential both on and off the field.

John Bertrand AO, Chair of the Sport Australia Hall of Fame, welcomed Harvey Norman to the SAHOF family sharing “The Sport Australia Hall of Fame is dedicated to preserving the legacy of Australian sport and inspiring future generations. Harvey Norman’s support as our Gold Sponsor and co-sponsor of the Scholarship & Mentoring Program marks a significant milestone in our journey. Their unwavering dedication to Australian athletes complements our vision to celebrate the past and inspire the future.”

Harvey Norman’s commitment extends beyond elite competition across multiple sporting codes and teams, including GWS Giants AFL and AFLW, NRL and NRLW, and QRL. Their sponsorship portfolio also includes the Sydney Kings and Sydney Flames basketball teams and their ‘Meet the Athletes’ initiative, which highlights the stories and achievements of Australian athletes across all disciplines.

The Sport Australia Hall of Fame’s Scholarship & Mentoring Program, established in 2006, has supported over 230 young athletes across 56 sports. This program connects scholarship holders with SAHOF Members, providing life-changing personal development, work life balance and media training. The program’s expansion in 2020 to a three-tiered structure ensures even greater opportunities for emerging talent.

Harvey Norman’s commitment to Australian sport is further exemplified through its distinguished brand ambassadors, including Ariarne Titmus, Sally Fitzgibbons, Madison De Rozario, and Montana Atkinson. These athletes embody excellence and inspire future generations through their remarkable achievements.

As Harvey Norman embarks on this new partnership with SAHOF, both organisations are united in their mission to inspire Australians to achieve their potential through the power of sport.
