Splendour in the Grass achieves record ticket sales
The Splendour in the Grass music and arts festival has recorded its largest on-sale to date, selling more than 42,500 tickets.
Being held from Friday 19th to Sunday 21st July, achieving this milestone for ist 19th edition has been achieved by the festival having secured a permanent home at the North Byron Parklands with an increased capacity. In 2018, the festival’s capacity was 30,000.
It is also the first year festival goers were able to use the ‘Time To Pay’ option through its ticketing partner Moshtix, which allows fans to pay off their tickets in three equal instalments.
Commenting on the pre-event milestone, Event Producers Jessica Ducrou and Paul Piticco stated "we’re stoked to announce that we’ve sold a record amount of tickets this year after months of planning and hard work by our wonderful team. We’re so grateful to see the continued passion and loyalty for Splendour in the Grass. We’re looking forward to sharing our forever home at the North Byron Parklands with more fans than ever before in 2019.
“And we’d like to thank our long-time ticketing partner Moshtix for their efforts ... in delivering a seamless on sale. The continuity they offer our fans makes things easier for everyone involved. It’s also incredibly important to us in the current landscape of ticket scalping and the evolution of the unauthorised secondary ticket market, that we can once again offer those who missed out on tickets today with a second chance through Moshtix’s Official Resale Facility.
“For many years now, the platform has allowed us to minimise the potential for scalping and ensure that our true fans are treated fairly and given the best opportunity to secure tickets. Our message to everyone who missed out today is to only buy tickets through the resale platform - don’t buy tickets through unauthorised platforms like Viagogo or your tickets will not be accepted at the gate.”
Moshtix, which was acquired by Ticketmaster earlier this year, has more than 1.3 million active event goers in its database and works with a range of event operators and venues including Groovin’ The Moo, Oxford Art Factory, Supanova, and the Australian Turf Club.
Moshtix Managing Director, Harley Evans added “this is Moshtix’s 10th year working on Splendour in the Grass. It’s been a great privilege working with Jess, Paul, and their amazing team knowing they always put the fans’ interests at the forefront of everything they do.
“We also feel it’s incredibly important in this day and age that we provide an authorised mechanism for the resale of tickets. We’ve offered this solution to Splendour fans for many many years now and it makes us proud to have been able to lead the market in delivering a service that does the right thing by the fans.”
