Splash Park Opens at Cotton Tree Aquatic Centre

A new splash park has opened at the Cotton Tree Aquatic Centre at Maroochydore on the Sunshine Coast.

A joint venture between centre managers Swim Fit and the Sunshine Coast Council, the splash park includes numerous interactive features including spray fountains, a water cannon, spiral tunnel and a 'Mega Soaker'.

Sunshine Coast Councillor Debbie Blumel said the park provided an alternative to the traditional swimming pool experience for Coast families stating that the new attraction "has been designed with health, safety, water conservation and great fun in mind.

"The innovative, functional design is sure to amuse and enchant children of all ages."

Suitable for all age groups, the park has replaced the old toddlers pool area and features three separate areas to cater for young, intermediate and older children.

Swim Fit Director Grant Belcher said the launch of the park would help keep children entertained during summer and help foster a love of water activities.

Belcher stated "Swim Fit is focused on encouraging people to enjoy a healthy and active lifestyle.

"We're hoping the new water park will provide the extra incentive for children to recognise being active can be a really fun, social and enjoyable experience.

"Unique to anything else found her on the Coast, the park is a valuable addition to the variety of water facilities provided by the centre catering for different swimming needs, age groups and interests."

The aquatic play space includes activators and controllers allowing children to control the water features.

As a result, it is only operational when children are playing in the water, reducing evaporation, power unsafe and water drainage.

Suitable for all age groups there are three separate areas to the splash park, a small kids area at zero depth, an intermediate area and a larger children's area at a depth of 400 mm which is, of course, where the 'Mega Soaker' is located.

Aquatic centre management company Swim Fit specialises in transforming existing facilities into an updated and refreshing experience for the public.

The companyâs objective is to provide people with the opportunity to participate in well organised swimming and fitness programs which suit every member of the community at affordable prices.

Swim Fit currently manage three facilities on the Sunshine Coast at Cotton Tree, Coolum and Nambour.
