South Australian councils given $500,000 boost to revive public spaces
The Open Space Grant Program 2023-24 opened this week for South Australian councils to apply for funding of up to $500,000 to revitalise laneways, main streets, civic places, and public spaces.
The program enables councils to apply for matched grant funding to support local works to improve local services and facilities and provide communities with better access to high quality open space.
The Grant Program aims to enhance public open spaces in both metropolitan and regional South Australia.
Access to a variety of public open space continues to be increasingly important to ensure South Australia remains liveable, healthy and sustainable, particularly in the context of increasing residential infill in existing neighbourhoods.
This year’s grant program is looking to projects that can demonstrate:
innovative, creative and sustainable design solutions
community benefit including local consultation
improvements to accessibility, safety and connectivity
Councils are encouraged to submit projects that will result in multi-use community spaces that are safer, greener and improve sustainability.
The grant round closes at 12noon on Friday, 9th February 2024. Further information regarding the Open Space Grant Program 2023-24, including a copy of the grant guideline, visit the PlanSA website.
