Singapore hits 70% vaccination milestone with sport and events set to reopen
Singapore has hit a vaccination milestone with 70% of its adult population vaccinated against COVID-19.
As a result, the Singapore Government has now eased some of its restrictions for fully vaccinated individuals.
Explaining the move, Singapore Minister of Finance Lawrence Wong stated “we will allow for larger event sizes if they are attended by only fully vaccinated persons too.
“Worship services, cinemas, MICE events, live performances, sports events can go up to 500 persons if they are attended by fully vaccinated persons.”
If the situation remains stable, event sizes could increase to 1,000 fully vaccinated people from 19th August.
Minister Wong added “when 80% of our population are fully vaccinated, we will move to the transition stage and allow further easing of measures.
“We are taking a controlled step by step approach in reopening.”
