Significant surfacing wins for HG Sports Turf

HG Sports Turf has cemented its position as a global leader in the design, construction, supply and maintenance of elite stadia pitches, by securing two significant new contracts.

The first of these will see the company resurface Wellington’s Westpac Stadium with 15,500 metre² of Eclipse Stabilised Turf ringed by a synthetic turf perimeter around the oval.

With Westpac Stadium hosting many sport and entertainment events, these mixed uses will be supported by a turf replacement system.

HG Sports Turf was awarded the contract following a competitive tender process, the decision being based on the Melbourne-based company’s record  with similar resurfacing works with Eclipse Stabilised Turf at the Melbourne Cricket Ground and the ANZ Stadium.

The project will be completed over 21 days in December 2016.

The second of HG Sports Turf’s recently awarded contracts is for the new Perth Stadium.

HG Sports Turf has been involved in the new Perth Stadium project since 2013, as part of the Brookfield Multiplex/ARUP consortium that is responsible for the overall stadium DBFM (design, build, finance, maintain) project. The company also has a strong working relationship with Western Australia Government, having previously rebuilt the playing surface at Perth's nib stadium.

The Eclipse Stabilised Turf playing surface has again been chosen to meet the needs of this new, multi-use, 60,000-seat stadium.

Field construction is due to start in December 2016 with the 18,000 metre² of Eclipse Stabilised Turf scheduled for installation in March 2017.
