Seating solutions brings people together
Driving innovation in aluminium seating for outdoor venues for over 30 years, NSW-based BAB Aluminium offer a diverse range from stackable seating for sports clubs to grandstands for schools, councils and pools equestrian venues, theme parks, tourist boats and generally anywhere that aluminium seating is required for spectator seating.
BAB Aluminium Director Brian Blowes advises “as one of Australia’s leading aluminium grandstand manufacturers and suppliers we’re recommended time and time again from councils to schools and sports clubs.
“Our grandstands are strong, long lasting, easy to clean and even cyclone rated with engineer certified warranties for up to 20 years. They are known for their durability, safety and low lifetime cost.”
BAB ingeniously utilise natural or man-made amphitheatres, concrete or natural banks for their spectator seating and effectively custom make their seating for each situation.
Blowes adds “our aluminium grandstands are used by schools for their outdoor school seating needs, by councils for their grandstand needs in public parks and recreation areas and by many sporting organisations that require aluminium grandstand solutions.”
One of the company’s recent successes has been with the BAB Buddy Bench, designed to provide a more inclusive environment in schools and address the issue of children feeling left out and lonely as they navigate the complexities of relationships and play.
In essence, it is a simple yet highly effective shared seating bench.
Curtin Primary School in Canberra was the first school to install the bench, with Principal Kerri Clark commenting “if a child is feeling left out, cannot find their friends or wants to make new friends, they can sit on the bench.
“Another student will then invite them to play in a new game or simply sit and talk so they're not left feeling alone and that they don't have anybody to play with at lunchtime or recess. The bench enables them to build relationships with others and provides them a tool to develop their skills in that area.”
Principal Clark says the bench complements the school's social and emotional learning in the classroom, concluding "we've placed it in our junior playground so we can develop those skills right from the early phases of schooling and give the students those skills to carry though their schooling with them.
"So the bench becomes superfluous; it's the skills that are important."
The success of the simple and innovative design has since seen the installation of the BAB Buddy Bench at a number of other Canberra schools.
