SeaLink Sets its Sights on China
South Australia's largest tourism organisation, SeaLink Travel Group is investing in the Chinese market, appointing a business development executive, to be located outside of Australia, to drive growth out of the greater China market.
Lucy Jin, has been named SeaLink's Business Development Executive, with Neil Gould, the company's General Manager Sales & Marketing, saying her appointment demonstrated SeaLink's significant and long term commitment to the Chinese market as well as paving the way for the company's first
Mandarin language South Australian tour set to begin in April 2011.
Gould explains âChina is the way of the future. Tourism numbers out of China continue to increase dramatically and SeaLink is determined to capitalise on this growth attracting more visitors to Kangaroo Island and other areas of South Australia.
"SeaLink has the range of products to service this demand from group sightseeing tours by coach to guided small group touring including deluxe 4WD tours and numerous self-drive packages.
"Lucy will be based in Beijing for up to the first 12 months and will be charged with direct sales growth and the establishment of wholesale, retail and online partnerships.
"She will be a great 'in-market' resource for SeaLink and as she is fluent in Chinese, Korean and Japanese, will also be responsible for driving growth in Japan and Korea as well as Greater China."
SeaLink's businesses include ferry operations to Kangaroo Island and in New Zealand, coach touring, charter, wholesale holiday packaging operations to Kangaroo Island and within South Australia, the operation of three retail travel agencies in Adelaide, Melbourne and Sydney specialising in Australian rail holidays, SkyLink Airport Shuttle services and a ski holiday transport and packaging business to the Victorian Alps.
The SeaLink Travel Group is a wholly South Australian-owned company involved in the tourism and transport industries. It is best known for the provision of ferry services between Cape Jervis, south of Adelaide, and Penneshaw on Kangaroo Island and is also a major provider of packaged holidays, accommodation and coach tours highlighting the diversity of Kangaroo Island.
