SCG's Sheridan Building Opened
The Sydney Cricket and Sportsground Trust has officially opened its Sheridan Building, which houses the administration headquarters for the SCG Trust, AFL (NSW/ACT), Sydney FC, FanFirm and the Stadium Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine Centre.
With 3,000 metres2 of office area across three levels, the Sheridan Building is one of the first generation of commercial buildings built to satisfy Section J of the Building Code of Australia.
The Code introduced provisions in 2006 to require the more efficient use of energy and reduce greenhouse gas emissions in new commercial buildings.
Named after Philip Sheridan, one of the Trustâs three original Trustees, the buildingâs opening was described by the Trust as a âdebt of honour to Philip Sheridanâ. Sheridan administered the SCG until his death in 1910 whereupon the Sheridan Stand, which was located on the site of the current Clive Churchill Stand, was named after him.
The recent opening of the building was attended by Sheridanâs great grandson Paul Sheridan, his great great grandson Patrick Sheridan, and his great great granddaughters Judi Sheridan and Philo Harris, together with their families.
