Safe Work Australia invites public comment on Amusement Devices Codes of Practice

Safe Work Australia has released six draft model work health and safety Codes of Practice and two guides for public comment.

These documents aim to provide businesses, industry and workers with practical guidance to achieving the requirements under the model work health and safety (WHS) laws.

The codes released for public comment are:

• Amusement devices
• Managing Risks in Forestry Operations
• Industrial lift trucks
• Cranes
• Managing Risks of Plant used in Rural Workplaces, and
• Managing Security Risks in the Cash-in-transit Industry.

The draft guides released for public comment are:

• Guide for Managing Risks in Cable Logging, developed to support the draft Code for forestry operations, and
• Guide for Tunnelling.

Input from business, industry and the wider community will help make these documents become practical resources in the workplace and assist duty holders comply with the new WHS laws, with public comment invited up to 24th August 2012.

This is the fourth set of Codes of Practice developed to support the new WHS laws. They are part of an information package developed by Safe Work Australia on behalf of the Commonwealth, states and territories, unions and industry as part of harmonised WHS laws across Australia.

The public comment period for these Codes of Practice closes on 24th August 2012.
