SA Motorsport Park plan wins Excellence in Local Economic Development award
The Coorong District Council’s development plan for the SA Motorsport Park has been acknowledged by the Local Government Professionals Australia, South Australia Leadership Excellence Awards Program.
The Council, which plans to develop the Tailem Bend venue in partnership with private developer Peregrine Corporation, was presented with the Excellence in Local Economic Development award.
In developing the SA Motorsport Park the partners aim to provide South Australia with a multi-purpose, multi-user venue to cater for grassroots to national level motorsport events.
The project was recognised for having the capacity to drive infrastructure development and meet targets for employment, tourism and regional development. It is anticipated that this will be a catalyst for further investment in the tourism industry; including increased private expenditure for new and enhanced tourism facilities including accommodation, retail and tourism operations which then spin off to create further economic benefits such as diversification, investment and employment.
The Local Government Professionals Australia, South Australia Leadership Excellence Awards Program recognises outstanding achievement and innovation in local government.
