SA Aquatic and Leisure Centre to host 2024 Australian Short Course Swimming Championships

SA Aquatic and Leisure Centre is to host the 2024 Australian Short Course Swimming Championships over four days from 26th-29th September.

The SA Aquatic and Leisure Centre boasts world-class aquatic facilities and come September – Olympians and Paralympians will be joined by club swimmers from all over the country.

Emerging stars will go head-to-head with returning Dolphins from the 2024 Olympics and Paralympics at the City Sprints.

The meet acts as a qualifier for World Aquatics Swimming World Cup 2024 and a springboard for the World Aquatics World Short Course Championships in Budapest in December.

High performance director Greg Shaw shared “This is an important meet in this year’s racing calendar. It’s a prelude to the 2024 edition of the World Aquatics Swimming World Cup and then the World Short Course Championships in Budapest.

“It’s the ideal lead-in to the year’s finale of international racing – and the frantic pace will suit the World Cup which features three Asian destinations in nine days of racing – Shanghai, Incheon and Singapore in October/November.”

South Australian Minister for Tourism Zoe Bettison noted “Some of our country’s best swimmers will make a splash in Adelaide this September as part of the 2024 Australian Short Course Swimming Championships.

"This is another blockbuster sporting event showcasing South Australia’s state-of-the-art facilities, and coupled with our fantastic tourism offerings, makes us a sporting destination of choice for athletes and spectators alike.

“I look forward to not only welcoming our star 2024 Olympic and Paralympic swimmers to Adelaide, but also emerging stars from across the country who will live their dream racing against their heroes – right here, in our city.”
