Revamped Whyalla Health and Leisure Centre reopens
The Whyalla Health and Leisure Centre has been reopened after a million dollar redevelopment.
The Centre, which houses a pool, gymnasium and fitness club, has been repainted, the slide upgraded and had improvements to the reception area.
Centre Manager, Michelle Martens, says there is still some work to be done, with improvements to the ventilation system a priority.
Martens told the ABC "I guess with ventilation it still gets quite hot in there with the new skylight that has been put up but council are working on that as we speak to get some more electronic ventilation put through the roof."
Martens says users are pleased with the improvements, despite many being unhappy the work took place during summer, adding "I guess at the time that it was closed obviously not too many people were happy at all but I guess now they've all seen the end result they're understanding and everyone's happy with it."
The Centre is managed by the YMCA of South Australia.
